Current Openings:

Grants & Development Associate. Job Description: Position Summary: The Grants and Development Associate is responsible for researching, identifying, preparing and submitting grant applications and reports primarily to foundations and corporations. This position will also assist with government grant applications and the agencies donor relations activities. Responsibilities: Grant Writer: 80% of time • Develop knowledge of program areas and how they relate to the SCH’s mission. • Research prospective funding opportunities and track trends in policy. • Write and submit applications/proposal tailored to Foundation and Corporation specific requirements. • Coordinate, write, and submit government grant proposals in collaboration with Program staff, Administrative team, and Executive Director. • Maintain a grant calendar and database to ensure timely, accurate tracking and reporting of all corporate, individual, government and foundation donor activity. • Monitor and maintain compliance and prepare reports to funders. • Write tailored acknowledgement letters. • Maintain an up-to-date database of organization’s donors and partners and level involvement. • Assist other members of the development team and the Executive Director as needed (prospect research, success stories, assistance at benefit events, etc.) • Engage in periodic travel to conferences, site visits and Board meetings. • Assist with preparing Board documents. • Support Executive Director with correspondence, scheduling, electronic filing, and updating contacts. • Coordinate and maintain SCH’s memberships and subscriptions related to the Development Department. Other Responsibilities: 20% of time • Support content development for digital media, including social media and e-newsletter. • Coordinates agency mailings and other administrative functions. • Assists with coordination, promotion and logistics of special agency events, to include press releases. • Mandatory participation in occasional weekend events hosted by employer/ and or affiliates. • Build grants management skills through webinars, research and other self-directed actions. • Performs other duties as assigned/special projects as assigned. Qualifications: • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in development or similar field. • Solid experience in grant writing and contract administration, including online application process. • Critical thinking with excellent verbal, writing and editing skills. • Detail oriented, organized problem solver. • Data analysis and geocoding, mapping experience a plus. • Creative and flexible. • Able to exercise independent judgement and handle multiple priorities simultaneously. • Ability to understand budgets as they relate to proposals and grants. • Knowledge of local philanthropic community. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment both as part of a team and individually. • Accountability for work and have a high level of professional and personal integrity. • Trustworthiness with knowledge of confidential foundation and donor information. • Interest in community development, housing issues, organizational development, and communications • Reliable transportation • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus but not required. Compensation: Compensation is $1,923.08 per bi-weekly pay period. (Annualized salary rate $50,000.08). Full-Time 40 hours. 1-Year Service Systems and Resources VISTA under Housing Action Illinois AmeriCorps Job Description: Position Summary: This position will build capacity for our clientele and community stakeholders by creating and enhancing a robust ecosystem of online tools to bring more affordable housing units available. The VISTA will create the framework for a monthly newsletter to encourage constant engagement, educating members on different topics, resources, and services SCH has to offer. Responsibilities: •Get acclimated with SCH team, programs, outreach and reporting systems and partners • Attend SCH workshops and review program literature to grow in knowledge about scope of the organization • Meet with one counselor from each service line to gain understanding of each program • Obtain knowledge in areas of resource development, communications, SCH programs, and organizational development through working with supervisors and leadership team • Engage in necessary training on developing robust community surveys, focus group methodology, data collection and data collection • Create a monthly newsletter Track and analyze monthly newsletter and related resources. • Develop a schedule and procedures for developing, incorporating, and rolling out a robust online portal and ecosystem • Engage in resource development to create a list of local servicers for affordable rental housing such as contractors, electricians, home supply, repair stores, etc. • Track the engagement of new and prospective members Develop a strategy for gathering data on community needs and the state of affordable rental housing resources and affordable rental housing through survey design and focus groups • Develop an interview protocol that obtains necessary information for an accurate picture of the state of affordable rental housing in our communities • In collaboration with the development department, create and disseminate a large-scale survey to assess community needs. Qualifications/Skills: • High school diploma/GED • Age Requirement: Minimum 18 years of age • Computer literate and technologically proficient in standard word processing, spreadsheet and data base software applications, web research. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point). • Excellent written, editing and verbal communication skills. • Public speaking • Communication and data science skills • Experience with data sciences to include data collection, survey creation and focus groups • Highly organized and motivated. • Members are expected to present a professional, businesslike image to all clients, visitors, and the public. Business attire required. • Interest in community development, housing issues, organizational development and communications. • Spanish speaking is a plus but not required. Program Benefits: • $300 monthly housing stipend (must provide copy of lease and proof of monthly payment) • Up to $100 monthly public transportation stipend (must provide monthly transportation receipt) • Childcare assistance if eligible • Health coverage* • Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend • Training • Living Allowance • Relocation Allowance • 10 personal days and 10 medical leave days during one year service. Additional leave days can be granted in certain situations.

Seasonal Part Time Accounting Clerk Job Description Position Summary: • The accounting clerk will provide support and work in collaboration with the Finance Director and Finance team. • This position requires strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize as well as multi-task. Responsibilities: • Opening accounting mail. Collecting invoices, date stamping. • Maintain bill received report monthly and review with Finance Director any missing bills. • Entering bills and invoices into the accounting system according to budget allocation. • Updating vendor information. • Assisting with obtaining check approval and signing. • Mailing vendor checks. • Assist with gathering back-up for credit card purchases and monthly bills. • Assist with maintaining the vendor password and username list needed to pull the monthly billing. • Maintain all bank account records, reconciliation, bank cards, correspondence etc. • Maintains all grant files, with contract, financial and program information. • File approved journals monthly • Assist with program audits • Assist with entering annual operating budget • Other duties assigned will includes assisting administrative and or program staff with filing, shredding and organizing and preparing for events Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED or two years related in social service agency • Computer literate and technologically proficient. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point). • Some account system experience is preferred. • Highly organized and motivated. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Must be dependable and follow instructions by Management direction. • Must have strong sense of accountability; takes responsibility for own actions. • Maintains required job skills and core professional competencies. Attends and participates in required staff meetings. • Staff members are expected to present a professional, businesslike image to all clients, visitors, and the public. Business attire required. • Work as part of a team and provide input and leadership towards program improvements. • Mandatory participation in Saturday events hosted by employer. • Must be dependable, dedicated, and flexible about working some evening and/or weekend hours. • Perform other job duties as assigned. Compensation: Compensation is $23.00 per hour. Part-Time, 20 to 25 hours pe week.
