Our community partners have helped us make a difference all year. On October 12, at this year’s Making Dreams Come True Fall Fundraiser, we honored the commitment of one organization who went the extra mile to further our mission.
The Polk Bros. Foundation is this year‘s Building Communities Together Award recipient. This foundation has been fighting poverty and inequity in the Chicago area for 35 years. In that time, it’s championed intersectional work to combat these issues at their roots while also attacking the symptoms that harm vulnerable Chicagoans daily.
that During its lifetime, this organization has worked with over 3,000 nonprofits to help families and communities, bolster education with arts, strengthen health outcomes, and boost the efforts of local organizations. Every year, it provides $25 million to nonprofits in the Chicago area across a variety of causes, but all share the organization’s mission of making Chicago a more equitable place with opportunity for all. Polk Bros. Foundation has been a key supporter and funder of SCH for more than two decades supporting SCH's mission: To build generational wealth through housing counseling, financial education, and advocacy, by connecting low-to-moderate income households to resources that create housing stability, homeownership, and economic mobility. Polk Bros. Foundation is working to make Chicago a place where all people have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
